A B O U T

Caleb Yang is a cellist, session musician, and music educator. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, he studied at UCLA before relocating to Nashville, where collaboration across genres continues to shape his artistic voice.

Caleb performs in various ensembles, including the Nashville Symphony as a substitute cellist. He has collaborated with the ARC Ensemble, the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz, and Silkroad's Global Musician Workshop. As a soloist, he has performed Bloch’s Schelomo for cello and orchestra under the baton of Neal Stulberg. As an improvising musician, Caleb blends various genres with live looping electronics for unique solo performances, original compositions, and self-produced projects.

As a session musician, Caleb has toured with artists Benjamin William Hastings and Martina McBride, and performed alongside artists including Danielle Bradbery, Natalie Grant, and David Cook, among others. His session work includes recording cello for artists such as Postmodern Jukebox, Chris Tomlin, and Blessing Offor. Additionally, Caleb has recorded with the Nashville Scoring Orchestra on video game scores, including projects for Marvel Entertainment, Sony/Bungie, and Blizzard Entertainment.

Caleb holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance from UCLA and a Master of Music in Commercial Music from Belmont University. His master's thesis on live looping for string players explores ways to promote improvisation, encourage participation in groove-based musical genres, and amplify one’s musical voice. Caleb also serves as the string orchestra teacher at F. H. Jenkins Preparatory School, an ESA-approved K–8 institution in Nashville.
